This summer school is to promote the research bases of the European Advanced Translational Research Infrastructure in Medicine (EATRIS) for "Metabolic Syndrome and Diabetes" at Karolinska Institutet and Global Center of Excellence (GCOE) for "Human Metabolomic Systems Biology" at Keio University. According to the academic agreement between Karolinska Institutet and Keio University, 2008 Summer School will contribute to the mutual progress in both institutions for our graduate students. We accept 6 students in doctoral courses in Karolinska Institutet to the 2008 GCOE Summer School at Keio University.
The summer school is combined with both "Intensive Courses" for 1 week and "Lab Work" for 4 weeks and they are required to all participants. We will match each student to our lab at Keio University, based on his/her interests and research backgrounds. Professors from Karolinska Institutet and Keio University, School of Medicine will teach classes during the summer school. We invite some professors from other universities and institutions to our summer school.
We believe that this is a good start to promote our mutual collaboration with a scope of exchangeable credits or double degree programs in the future.
